Graduates of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering have diverse career opportunities in Bangladesh and abroad. They can work in shipyards and dockyards, ship design firms, classification societies, shipping companies, ports, ship recycling industries, offshore oil and gas, dredging organisations, marine equipment and engine companies, regulatory agencies, survey organisations, fishing industries, defence organisations, and maritime research and education. Typical positions include Naval Architect, Marine Engineer, Ship Design Engineer, Shipyard/Production Engineer, Surveyor, Project Engineer, Marine Consultant, and maritime-sector technical or management roles. Opportunities are available in government organisations such as the Bangladesh Navy, BIWTC/BIWTA, Department of Shipping and port-related organisations, as well as private and international maritime companies. The department’s alumni and students are already working in organisations including Dockyard & Engineering Works Ltd., Bangladesh Navy, BIWTC, Wärtsilä Bangladesh, Karnafuly Shipbuilders, Bashundhara Steel & Engineering, and international organisations. Graduates can also pursue higher studies and research in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, ship design, maritime safety, offshore engineering, and emerging Blue Economy sectors.
