Naval Architects and Marine Engineers in the Making
The SU NAME Club aims to enhance students’ academic knowledge, practical skills, professional development, research capabilities, and industry exposure in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. The club provides a platform for students to connect academic learning with modern ship design, marine technology, maritime safety, research, innovation, and professional networking.
The club is advised by Sheikh Abid Ibn Shahed (Lecturer & Coordinator) and Md. Mahmudul Hasan Akib (Lecturer), with Rupesh Chandra Karmaker leading it as student president. Its first activity was the AutoCAD Basic & Ship Design Workshop — A 3-day practical workshop organized by SU NAME Club to develop students’ basic AutoCAD and ship design skills. The course covers basic AutoCAD, General Arrangement (GA) Drawing, Lines Plan, Midship Section Drawing, and basic drawing techniques for ship design. An evaluation task is conducted at the end of the workshop, with prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position holders and certificates for successful participants.
