- Short Biography
- Brigadier General (Retd.) Habibur Rahman Kamal, ndc, psc, is a civil engineer, academic and defence professional with more than four decades of engineering, teaching and institutional leadership experience. He has been Professor of Civil Engineering and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Sonargaon University since March 2023. He was earlier Professorial Fellow at North South University, and at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) served as Dean, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering and Acting Commandant. He was the founder Registrar of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and Chairman of the Khulna Development Authority. He holds a Ph.D. in Development Management from Preston University, USA, an M.Sc. in Resource Planning and Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, USA, and an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from BUET. As Chief Engineer (Operations) with the United Nations mission in East Timor he received the Force Commander’s and the Chief of Staff’s commendations and the United Nations Medal for Service.
